Many people believe that baby teeth don’t have to be taken care of, because babies will loose them anyway. This is a misconception, because taking care of the teeth and gums early will actually help developing a healthy and strong set of teeth later on.
Make sure to follow closely the dental health care tips for babies, if you want your little one to develop healthy teeth later:
1. It is extremely important to cleanse properly the gums of your little one.
Right when he/she is around 4 months old, you can start cleansing gently the gums with a wet washcloth. You should repeat the procedure at least twice a day. This way you will make sure that any formula and natural juice deposits will be cleansed from the mouth.
2. Make sure you never put your baby to bed with a bottle, because there is a great risk of developing the so known “baby bottle carries”.
Formula milk contains sugars, and these sugars can be extremely harmful for the teeth of your baby. If however the milk bottle is the only one that will make your little one sleep, then make sure to feed him, and then always cleanse the gums with a damp clean cloth.
3. Children must be taken to the pediatric dentist starting from age 1.
Find the best professional for your little one and make sure to respect all the dental checkups. This way, you will make sure that the baby gets all the preventative dental care that is needed in order to stay away from dental cavities and other complications.
4.When the child is old enough to spit when brushing the teeth (usually around the age of 3), make sure to purchase toothpaste.
5.Give your little one sweets and other sugary treats with moderation.
Also, when he/she is old enough start teaching them that brushing the teeth after eating sweets is extremely important.
